While there is much work to be done with the ORC there are two key Green Policies I’ll work to implement in this coming term.
Fighting for nature
We’re in the middle of a climate emergency, and an ecological crisis, and government can’t fix it on its own. We would establish a fund of $1m a year – jointly funded by the DCC and ORC – for community and commercial projects that deliver on our goals of a zero carbon city and supporting our native biodiversity.
A better bus service
How we get around the city is one of the biggest opportunities we have in tackling climate change, but alternatives to the status quo need to be available to everyone. As part of the proposed joint review of bus fares by the DCC and ORC, we’d make it a bottom line to offer concession fares to any Community Services Card holder.
Vote for Scott
As your Green Party candidate for the Otago Regional Council I will advocate for clean rivers, great public transport and affordable clean energy. By working together our communities can thrive. At the same time, we can reduce climate impacts through restoring our ecosystems and building resilience.
Your vote will help deliver the first ever Green Party Councillor to the Otago Regional Council, for a renewed and re-energised Council able to tackle the challenges ahead.
